Location: Fraserburgh
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum
Start Date: April (to allow 2–3 month formal handover ahead of retirement in June)
Activus Recruitment are supporting a successful North East house builder in the appointment of a Timber Frame Factory Manager to oversee the smooth and efficient running of their timber frame kit production facility near Fraserburgh
This is a hands-on management position offering a structured transition period alongside the current Factory Manager prior to retirement.
The Timber Frame Factory Manager will take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the timber frame kit factory, ensuring production remains on programme, compliant, and commercially efficient.
This role remains operational, with the current manager actively involved in production activities including operating the saw and assisting in panel manufacture.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing the full production process within the timber frame kit factory
Operating machinery and assisting with the manufacture of timber frame panels when required
Supervising and managing timber frame operatives (currently 2 staff, with projected growth to 4)
Liaising with the Buyer, Site Managers, Timber Frame Design Manager and office staff
Managing production schedules to ensure delivery targets are met
Coordinating haulage and transportation of completed kits
Operating forklift and managing material deliveries, storage and distribution
Managing stock control and monitoring material levels
Maintaining accurate production and compliance documentation
Overseeing health and safety compliance within the factory, including:
Staff training requirements
Boiler servicing
Electrical certification
PAT testing
Fire safety equipment servicing
Supporting annual Quality Assurance audits and related compliance processes
Applicants should demonstrate:
Previous experience within a timber frame kit factory environment
or
Strong joinery experience combined with supervisory or management experience
In addition:
A hands-on, practical approach
Experience managing small teams in a manufacturing or production setting
Strong organisational and communication skills
Sound knowledge of workshop or factory health and safety requirements
Forklift certification (preferred but not essential)
£40,000 – £45,000 per annum
