Plant Mechanic / Maintenance Manager
Location: Durris, Aberdeenshire (with occasional travel across Scotland)

Activus Recruitment is supporting a well-established and growing civil and environmental engineering business. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Plant Mechanic / Maintenance Manager to join their team.
This is a hands-on role suited to candidates with experience in servicing, maintenance, and repair of plant and LCV fleets.
It is a key position offering significant responsibility, autonomy, and excellent earning potential for the right individual.
The Role
You will take ownership of the performance and reliability of a fleet which includes:
- Approximately 15 items of modern heavy plant (primarily 5–24 tonne excavators, telehandlers, and dumpers)
- Approximately 15 work vans and pickup vehicles
Based at a Durris workshop, you will play a critical role in ensuring all equipment remains safe, compliant, and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage a structured, preventative maintenance programme
- Service, maintain, and repair plant machinery, vans, and pickups
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
- Independently source parts and liaise with suppliers
- Maintain stock levels of essential service and spare parts
- Keep accurate service records using spreadsheets and digital systems
- Advise management on upcoming maintenance needs and improvements
- Support and educate operators on daily checks and basic maintenance
- Promote safe and efficient operation of all equipment
About You
- Fully qualified and experienced Plant Mechanic (essential)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- IT literate, with the ability to maintain digital records and spreadsheets
- Organised, methodical, and able to work independently
- Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with operators, management, and suppliers
- High standards of workmanship and professionalism
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
