Location: Inverurie, Aberdeenshire

Our client is a well-established and highly respected Civil Engineering Contractor with a long-standing presence in the North East of Scotland. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Buyer / Procurement Coordinator to join their team and play a key role in supporting the efficient and cost-effective delivery of projects.

The Role

Working closely with the Commercial, Contracts and Site Teams, you will be responsible for ensuring materials, plant and services are procured effectively to meet project requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Procuring construction materials, equipment and services
  • Liaising daily with Contracts Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Site Teams
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
  • Negotiating competitive rates and securing best value for the business
  • Monitoring supplier performance and delivery schedules
  • Working closely with site personnel to understand and support project requirements
  • Completing procurement administration, purchase orders and associated documentation
  • Carrying out occasional site visits to gain a better understanding of operational requirements and project needs

About You

The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and capable of working effectively within a fast-paced construction environment.

You will have:

  • Previous experience in a procurement, buying, plant coordination or similar role within construction, civil engineering or a related sector
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • The ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good knowledge of construction materials and plant (advantageous)
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • A full UK driving licence
  • The ability to commute to the Inverurie area
