Salary: £12.71 per hour (NMW)

About the Role
Activus Recruitment is supporting a well-established engineering business in the Kintore area to recruit a Fitter.
In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and testing of equipment within a workshop environment. You will ensure equipment is serviced, reliable, and ready for operational use, while supporting efficient workshop operations and maintaining the reliability of the company’s equipment and fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out fitting activities including dismantling, inspection, repair, refurbishment, and reassembly of equipment
  • Diagnose faults and determine appropriate corrective actions
  • Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and testing of equipment in accordance with company procedures
  • Conduct pressure testing and functional checks as required
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and equipment status
  • Assist in organising tools, consumables, spares, and maintaining a clean and orderly workshop environment
  • Support mobilisation and demobilisation of equipment for customer orders
  • Operate workshop machinery, lifting equipment, and tools safely and competently
  • General workshop labour
  • Assist with stores duties when required
  • Loading and unloading of equipment and deliveries
  • Adhere to the stock control system and report any shortages or issues
  • Keep work areas clean and organised
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, processes, and procedures
  • Comply with Health and Safety policies and processes
  • Carry out other related duties as required in line with business needs
  • Contribute to a positive QHSE culture, taking responsibility for your own safety and others
  • Complete all mandatory training relevant to the role

What We’re Looking For
Qualifications & Certification
  • NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering
  • Proven relevant work experience at a comparable level may be accepted in the absence of formal qualifications
  • Forklift certification (preferred)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience working in a similar role within a workshop or manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to detail
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a safe and accurate manner
  • Able to work unsupervised in a diligent and safe manner
Personal Qualities
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and a quick learner with previous experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to high standards of workmanship
