Activus Recruitment is working on behalf of a well-established, Architectural business based in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a motivated Architectural Technician, Part II Architectural Assistant, or Architect to join their team.

Architect – Job Description (Project Experience Focus)
We are seeking a skilled and creative Architect with experience across diverse project types, including residential housing, bus depots, commercial buildings, EV infrastructure, and design and build projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong design sensibility, technical knowledge, and project coordination skills to a variety of complex and future-oriented developments.

New Build Housing

• Design and develop architectural solutions for single and multi-family residential projects.
• Deliver high-quality housing schemes from concept to construction, aligning with local planning and housing regulations.
• Incorporate sustainability, community integration, and modern living standards in housing designs.

• Lead the architectural design of bus depots, maintenance facilities, and vehicle storage yards.
• Plan for vehicle flow, maintenance operations, staff facilities, and energy efficiency.
• Coordinate closely with transport planners, M&E engineers, and local authorities to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
• Integrate sustainable solutions such as EV charging for buses, solar arrays, and low-carbon materials.

• Lead and contribute to the design of office buildings, retail environments, hospitality, and industrial spaces.
• Address commercial client needs through efficient space planning, cost-effective design, and aesthetic value.
• Support feasibility studies, BREEAM/LEED compliance, and tenant fit-out design when required.

• Participate in the planning and design of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, including public stations, private hubs, and battery storage facilities.
• Prioritize sustainable and future-proof design approaches in alignment with renewable energy goals.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and sustainability consultants to ensure technical viability and regulatory compliance.

• Manage architectural responsibilities in Design & Build (D&B) contract settings.
• Deliver coordinated architectural packages for contractor-led projects, balancing design intent with buildability and cost-efficiency.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery and value engineering.
