Business Development Manager – Renewables & EHV Connections

Activus Recruitment is supporting a leading electrical infrastructure and renewable energy contractor in their search for a Business Development Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation that designs and delivers large-scale electrical infrastructure, renewable energy, and EV charging projects across the UK.
You’ll play a key role in driving business growth, developing strategic partnerships, and securing new opportunities in the EHV (Extra High Voltage) and renewable energy sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial background within the ICP or utilities industry and a proven record of winning and delivering major grid connection or renewable projects.
Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities in EHV and renewable energy markets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, DNOs, IDNOs, EPCs, and key industry stakeholders.
Lead commercial engagement and bid processes for large-scale projects.
Work closely with technical and delivery teams to ensure seamless project handover.
Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and conferences.
Provide strategic input and market intelligence to support long-term growth.
Proven experience in business development within the ICP, utilities, or power infrastructure sector.
Track record of securing EHV (33kV and above) or large-scale renewable projects.
Strong understanding of UK electricity networks, grid connection processes, and DNO/IDNO frameworks.
Commercially astute, with excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Strategic, proactive, and results-driven approach.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities, comfortable engaging from site to boardroom level.
Degree in Electrical / Power Systems / Energy Engineering or Business / Commercial Management (with relevant sector experience).
Experience with renewable energy projects such as solar PV, BESS, or EV charging.
Familiarity with contestable works, G99/G100, and grid connection feasibility (desirable).
Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members.
