The Opportunity

Activus Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established construction and concrete specialist in the search for an experienced HSEQ Advisor. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in promoting a positive health, safety, environmental and quality culture across a diverse range of construction projects.

Working closely with operational teams and clients, you'll provide expert advice, ensure compliance with industry standards, and drive continuous improvement across all aspects of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ).

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out site inspections and audits, identifying hazards and recommending effective corrective actions.

  • Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for construction activities.

  • Develop, implement and maintain HSEQ policies, procedures and documentation in line with current legislation and industry best practice.

  • Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures.

  • Support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives, helping to minimise environmental impact across projects.

  • Monitor and maintain quality assurance processes, ensuring standards are consistently met.

  • Keep up to date with changes in HSEQ legislation and provide guidance to management and site teams.

  • Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors and internal teams to ensure HSEQ standards are maintained across all sites.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent).

  • Previous experience in an HSEQ, Health & Safety or Compliance role within the construction or civil engineering sector.

  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations 2015, environmental management and quality systems.

  • Experience carrying out HSEQ audits and inspections.

  • Excellent communication, organisational and report-writing skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.

  • A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel across Scotland and occasionally throughout the UK.

Desirable

  • Experience with ISO management systems (9001, 14001 and/or 45001).

  • Internal or external auditing experience.

  • Experience delivering HSEQ training, toolbox talks or staff development sessions.
